busy little film student

so we're getting to that point in time again. ya know, when teachers start assigning too many things and all that.

Anyways, I've been rather busy lately and very very behind in messages and other things. I'm kind of excited for this weekend, though. On Friday aka tomorrow I'll be filming (legit filming) for a short class project to help us get ready for our final. Being that we're still using 16 mm, we only have about 3 min 45 sec of stock, but that can seem like an eternity without sound, but hey, there's the challenge. Film's a visual medium. And a gorgeous medium at that. I loooove getting to see my work projected on a screen. Even if we mess up while shooting, it still looks pretty. Film is marvelous, I'm glad I went film over video. Not to say there's anything bad with video, I'm trying to gain experience there as well. But there's just something about film that a video camera can never capture, the quality just isn't the same.

I'm helping out on another film shoot this weekend, too. I'm acting as my friend's PA [production assistant]. She's a year ahead of me so she's got nicer equipment. I'm kind of the grunt on this project, but I'm totes alright with that. I get to learn from the older students and it's a good crew from what I've heard. There's a couple people on the list I've admired for some time so it'll be great learning from them and watching them at work.

I've also been trying to organize the anime club to get to go to Naka Kon. I feel kind of bad because I don't feel like I'm doing all that I wanted to do for that club. I still have the whole rest of the year of course, but I just wish I had more time to put into this club. I wanted to spice up the meetings a bit and I've been having a bit of trouble doing that, but I think that'll be changing soon, I got me some plans brewing. :3

As far as my other classes, they're trucking along. I'm quite enjoying my Character Design class though the workload is starting to get to me. I should probably be working on our latest project now since I won't have any time this weekend.

Audio class has an assignment coming up as well. I had been hoping to complete it last night. My friends and I had booked one of the studios for four hours last night and none of us finished, but we did all record all that needed to be recorded. Now all that's needed is some good editing, sound effects and music. Unfortunately I do NOT like the program we've been assigned. After being exposed to some other editing programs I feel like I've been thrown backwards. It is only a 1000 level course, but we're using Tracktion, which is stupidly simple and... weird. Do not want. Oh well.

Got registered for Spring Classes a week or so back. I'm taking Law in the Media, Ethics in the Media, Modern World Cinema, Photo 2, and Lighting for Film and Video. I'm excited for my Photo and Lighting classes, the others are just required classes that are kind of a bore. Mostly reading and writing papers, that sort of thing. I still get to watch films, but I really like more hands on classes, production classes. I like to be actually working on something.
I'm excited though because I've been set up for a minor in Photography. :3 Yay! I can't wait to start working on it again, I feel like I've really improved on exposure and depth of field with all my film classes so I can't wait to put it to use.

Merh, so much to dooo. Hasn't helped that I've been sick this past week. I woke up in the middle of the night a few nights ago with a killer headache. Seriously, I've never had that one that bad before. It felt like my skull was going to crack just to relieve some of the pressure. When it finally died down after some medication I ended up waking up again, feeling so hot and sweating, but if I took the covers off I'd only freeze and have to burrow back under. Been fighting off aches and cold feelings, though I woke up today feeling ten times better. Still have a runny nose and nearly no voice, but feeling so much better.
What I find strange though is that I hardly ever get sick. I maybe get a cold once a year, and I'd thought I'd already dealt with this a few weeks back, but then it came back again last Sunday night. I felt it creeping up on me while working on a project late into the evening. Ugh, stupid sickness. Why can't you just go away and STAY away?

On the topic of cosplaying, I helped :iconlysistratas-peace: style her Yazoo wig in my bathroom. :iconshaeeldera: joined in on the fun and brought some nummeh Oreos. Anyways, the wig is BEAUITFUL, lysistratas is going to be the BEST YAZOO EVER! I swear, she's perfect. lol bro! bro!!! BRO!

I've been trying to get some time to just sit down and work on my Axel wig, but I seriously feel as though I haven't stopped moving and if ever I do get some free time I'm either working on a project or trying to get some sleep.

Bah. Sorry to bother you with all my nonsense. Consider it a bit of a vent, it's helping organize my brain.
